Description
Views of Tiger Hill depicts a historic site a few miles northwest of Suzhou. The scenes simulate a visit from arriving by boat at the foot of the mountain to climbing to Cloudy Cliff Monastery. Representations of the artist’s mature style, Shen Zhou included views in subtle colors in the suite of monochrome scenes.

《虎丘十二景图册》是明代吴门画派领袖沈周（1427—1509）晚年创作的山水册页。虎丘位于苏州西北，是江南最负盛名的名胜之一，相传春秋时吴王阖闾葬于此地，有"吴中第一名胜"之誉。沈周以十二帧画面从不同角度描绘虎丘的四季景致与人文风貌：从运河泊舟处的远眺、到后山剑池的幽深、再到千人石的辽阔，每一帧都独立成景又整体连贯。
沈周是"吴门画派"的奠基人，出身于苏州文人世家，终身不仕，以书画自娱。他继承了元代黄公望、倪瓒等人的文人画传统，强调"师法自然"与"抒发胸臆"的平衡。《虎丘十二景》创作于1490年代之后，此时沈周已年过六旬，画风愈发苍润浑厚。册页中的笔墨既有董源、巨然的温润秀雅，又有黄公望的疏朗萧散，体现了沈周集大成的艺术成就。
