Cup (Tasse)

Description

As European porcelain production advanced, factories borrowed designs and techniques from one another in order to remain competitive in the porcelain market. This early cup is decorated with a border pattern with a draped effect, often referred to as lambrequin, typical of the Saint-Cloud porcelain factory. The blue and white underglaze attempts to emulate the colors characteristic in imported Chinese porcelain.
